Religions in China
China since 2002 has been officially atheist. But many people there still practice religion. The top ones are Daoist (Taoist), Buddhist, Christian, Muslim. (CIA)
Daoism: The religion Daoism or also known as Taoism was developed in ancient china by a man named Laozi. It has deeply influenced Chinese culture like Confucianism has. The Daoist philosophy is mainly everything is basically one despite the appearance of differences. The life goal for a Daoist is to grow a mystical relationship to the Dao and to act only in harmony with it. (Daoism)
Buddhism: Buddhism is the religion and philosophy that was developed from the teachings of the Buddha. It's also based on four noble truths. The first truth is that life is made up of pain and suffering. The second is that all suffering is caused by one's desires. The third is that one can be free of these desires. The fourth truth is the Eight fold Path, which explains eight ways to achieve nirvana, nirvana is the freedom from desire. Buddhism is just about trying to reach your nirvana and following the Buddha. (Buddhism)
Christianity: Christianity is the worlds most widespread religion. It’s based on the life, death, and teachings from Jesus Christ. Christians believe that Jesus was sent to the world to save humans. It’s believed that he had to suffer, die, and be resurrected to pay for our sins. Christians usually attend a church on Sunday and Wednesdays. They also follow a book based on the story of Jesus called the Bible. (Christianity)
Islam: Islam is the religion based on the prophet Muhammad. It’s followers are known as Muslims Muslims believe Muhammad was God's final prophet who was sent preach to all humanity unlike the other prophets before who were just sent to teach specific areas. A prophet is someone who is believed to be chosen by god to spread and teach his message. They study off the Qu’ran. They live their life by five pillars, and their sacred holiday is Ramadan. (Islam)
